Healing Power of

Himalayan Salt

The History and Healing Power of Himalayan Salt

It is said that the healing power of Himalayan salt was discovered by Alexander the Great in 327 BC, when his horse, Bucephalus, led him to the salt-rich foothills of the Himalayas. This marked the beginning of a fascinating history for a salt often referred to as the purest on Earth.

Formed over 250 million years ago from the remnants of ancient seas, Himalayan salt is mined from the Khewra Salt Mine, one of the world’s largest and oldest. Rich in essential minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium, its unique pink color and therapeutic properties have been cherished for centuries. From preserving food to soothing sore muscles, salt has played a crucial role in human well-being.

This healing tradition continues with halotherapy, or salt therapy—a practice of inhaling purifying, salt-rich air.

The Health Benefits of Himalayan Salt & Salt Caves

Himalayan salt’s natural ability to purify the air and promote wellness is amplified within a salt cave environment. Our specially designed rooms use halo generators to disperse micro-particles of pharmaceutical-grade salt, delivering a range of therapeutic benefits:

Respiratory Health

The salt particles help cleanse the lungs and respiratory system by drawing out toxins, allergens, and pollutants. This is especially beneficial for those with asthma, allergies, bronchitis, and symptoms from pollution or smoking.

Stress Reduction & Relaxation

Himalayan salt produces negative ions, which neutralize the positive ions from electronics and pollution. This helps reduce stress, ease anxiety, and promote a profound sense of calm.

Improved Skin Health

The mineral-rich air benefits skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne with salt’s natural antibacterial properties.

Enhanced Sleep

The calming effects of salt therapy promote deeper, more restorative sleep by improving air quality and reducing stress.

Find out for Yourself

In a salt cave, you are immersed in a unique and powerful healing environment, allowing you to experience the benefits of Himalayan salt that have been cherished for centuries.

Caring for Your Himalayan Salt Lamp

To ensure you get the most from your lamp’s therapeutic benefits, follow these simple care tips:

Handling

Handle the lamp with care, as hand-carved imperfections, such as points or tails, can chip easily. Place it on a stable surface where it won’t fall or tip over.

Bulb Wattage

Use a 15-watt to 25-watt bulb. This provides enough heat to activate the lamp and produce the beneficial negative ions. We carry extra Himalayan Salt Lamp dimmer cords and bulbs.

Cleaning

Gently wipe your lamp with a slightly damp cloth to remove any dust.

Placement

Place your lamp in a dry environment. Damp areas like a bathroom can cause the salt to dissolve.

Over-Purification

If you feel lightheaded, it may be a sign the air is being over-purified. Simply reduce the bulb’s wattage to 15 watts.
